LAByrinths are a series of dream labs opening up the curatorial process towards the DREAM PALACE - a symposium exploring all aspects of sleeping and dreaming, held over 7 days in October 2023 in Athens, Greece.

In this LAByrinth we welcome author Gary Lachman and artist Bonnie Camplin to discuss precognitive dreaming and time.

LAByrinth: Dreamtime | Ονειρίκος Χρόνος

In this incubator event, our two guests will both give short (30 minute) keynote presentations that elucidate their respective research areas. A joint, conversational Q&A hosted by DREAM PALACE curators will follow.

We will also have a nootropic bar where you can purchase delicious drinks to enhance your senses.

SOUNDSCAPE

Ternary is a subtly evolving audio work based on a fragment of prepared piano recording just under six seconds long. This tiny sound is subject to long form repetition and layering, forming a slowly moving piece that drifts in out of discordance and abstract harmony via precise frequency and equalising shifts.

Dreaming Ahead of Time

Can we dream the future? Does time flow in only one direction? What is a ‘meaningful coincidence’?

Gary Lachman is the author of many books on consciousness, culture, and the western esoteric tradition - as well as former Blondie bassist. Gary has been recording his dreams for forty years, and discovered that many of them have been 'precognitive' - dreams in which bits and pieces of the future seem to turn up ahead of time.

In his presentation, based on his book Dreaming Ahead of Time, Lachman will relate how he came to discover that he dreams the future, and how this ability is something we all share but often remain unaware of. Along the way, Lachman will look at the work of other time haunted men, such as J.W. Dunne, J. B. Priestley, Philip K. Dick, P.D. Ouspensky, C.G. Jung and Arthur Koestler.

Gary Lachman is the author of many books about consciousness, culture, and the Western esoteric tradition, including The Return of Holy Russia, Dark Star Rising: Magick and Power in the Age of Trump, Lost Knowledge of the Imagination, and Beyond the Robot: The Life and Work of Colin Wilson. He writes for several journals in the US, UK, and Europe, lectures around the world and his work has been translated into more than a dozen languages. In a former life he was a founding member of the pop group Blondie and in 2006 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Before moving to London in 1996 and becoming a full time writer, Lachman studied philosophy, managed a metaphysical book shop, taught English literature, and was Science Writer for UCLA. He is an adjunct professor of Transformative Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He can be reached at:

Epic Time Review

This presentation will attempt to describe how epistemic access to future events might be possible in this dream we call Reality?

Bonnie Camplin is an artist and Senior Lecturer within the art department at Goldsmiths College London.

Bonnie’s presentation will draw on various materials including her long-term research into what is known as the Montauk Project - and related secret military programs - that experimented with things like ESP, psychological warfare, time travel, unified field theory, remote viewing and other parapsychological phenomena. Bonnie has spent the last nine years examining witness testimonies from participants that took part in occult military research projects. Many of these testimonies are convincing and intriguing, and hint at opportunities to explore and explain deeper structures of reality. The true nature of time and consciousness are themes Bonnie seeks to synthesise with experiential and theoretical models both ancient and modern.

Bonnie's films have been screened at the ICA's Artists Film Club for the London Film Festival and Bienalle of Moving Images, Tate Britain, the Frieze Art Fair, and the Lux Bienalle of Moving Images. Her work has been reviewed in Artforum, Art Review, Flash Art International and Frieze.

Camplin was shortlisted for the Turner prize in 2015 for the Military-Industrial Complex, an experimental research facility room arranged to explore how ‘consensus reality’ is formed. Extracting information from the fields of physics, philosophy, psychology, witchcraft, quantum theory and warfare; how does a society arrive at common beliefs and perceptions?

In 2018 Bonnie produced a series of drawings SPIRSEQ that were a product of her own downloads working with The Russell Cosmogony, descriptions of Probability Vortexes from the RA Material and the theories of Austrian forester, philosopher, early biomimicry experimenter and inventor Victor Schauberger. These SPIRSEQ drawings will form the starting point of her talk.
